A global media conglomerate publishing across 12 country-specific domains was losing millions in ad revenue due to slow load times, fragmented content management, and poor SEO. Each country had a separate WordPress install with inconsistent themes and 310 total plugins. Publishing across all markets took 4+ hours.
XCodeSol consolidated all 12 sites into a single WordPress Multisite network with a unified custom theme, centralized plugin management, and an intelligent content syndication engine. We catalogued 87,000+ posts, 310 plugins, and 42 custom post types before the migration.
The architecture used subdirectory structure (mediacorp.com/uk/, /us/, /au/), custom parent theme with market-specific child overrides, and MU plugins for core functionality. Performance stack: Redis object cache, Varnish page cache, CloudFront CDN, WebP conversion, and PHP 8.2. The custom syndication plugin auto-generates localized draft clones when an article is published — country editors review and publish in under 30 minutes. 12,000+ URLs preserved via meticulous 301 redirects with proper hreflang implementation.
