Key Business Results & Performance Metrics
Client Challenges & Problem Scope
The OTA Commission Problem
The online travel agency (OTA) industry is dominated by Booking.com, Expedia, and Agoda — charging hotels 15–30% commission on every booking. These costs are ultimately passed to travelers in higher room rates. A $100 hotel room direct becomes $130 on an OTA. Over millions of bookings, travelers overpay billions. LockTrip's founders saw blockchain could eliminate middlemen, dropping commissions to near-zero and passing savings to travelers.
