From No-Code MVP to Banking-Grade FinTech: How a Berlin Startup Scaled to $10M in Transactions
A Berlin FinTech startup's no-code MVP kept crashing at 500 users. XCodeSol rebuilt it on Yii 2 — 99.99% uptime, $10M+ processed, PSD2 certified.
A Berlin FinTech startup's no-code MVP crashed at 500 users and corrupted data twice. XCodeSol rebuilt the platform on Yii 2 with AES-256 encryption, Plaid open banking, and Stripe P2P payments.
Key Business Results & Performance Metrics
Client Challenges & Problem Scope
A No-Code MVP That Kept Breaking
The startup built their MVP on a no-code platform. It crashed above 500 users. Payment processing failed silently, leaving users' money in limbo. Data was corrupted twice in three months. No encryption at rest (PSD2 violation), no audit logging, could not integrate with Plaid. Users were leaving bad reviews. Regulators were getting nervous. The startup risked fines up to 4% of annual turnover and could not raise their Series A without fixing the technology.
Engineered Solutions & Technical Strategy
Full Rebuild on Yii 2 with Banking-Grade Security
We rebuilt the entire platform on Yii 2 Framework, chosen for its security-first architecture. AES-256-GCM encryption for all sensitive data with HSM-backed key management via AWS KMS. JWT tokens with refresh token rotation. Rate limiting at the API gateway. Immutable audit logging on an append-only PostgreSQL schema — every data mutation recorded for regulatory compliance. OWASP Top 10 systematically addressed.
Plaid Open Banking + Stripe Connect P2P
Plaid API connects users to 2,000+ European banks in under 60 seconds with real-time transaction aggregation. AI-powered categorization achieves 94% accuracy. P2P engine on Stripe Connect with 14-signal fraud detection: velocity checks, device fingerprinting, behavioral analytics, beneficiary risk scoring. 3D Secure 2.0 for SCA compliance. Automated settlement reconciliation — zero unreconciled transactions.
